The Fil de Fer outdoor suspension light is a lighting fixture made of shaped, woven aluminium wire, which is lit on the inside by tiny LED bulbs. It is ideal for creating a magical atmosphere. Designed and made by Enzo Catellani, it is the creation closest to his heart. Developed almost twenty years ago for a special commission, it was never used for that particular project and was hung up in his workshop. Each time it was switched on, it enchanted everyone with its special, magical atmosphere. Enzo Catellani decided then to continue working on it. The lamp was later placed on the market and quickly became the most iconic lighting fixture in the Catellani & Smith range. This latest version is suitable for outdoor use with an IP rating of 65. Enzo Catellani has designed his first collection of outdoor lights for Catellani & Smith in response to the trend that, over the years, has seen living spaces move outside into terraces and gardens, creating extensions of the house. Enzo Catellani’s main goal was to create a collection of indoor lamps suitable for outdoor installation; lighting fixtures created for the outside, but able to recreate the same warmth and atmosphere as indoor lights. The Hampton Pendant Light has been hand made using an original blend of prime materials and finishes. Taking inspiration from marine naval ships, the lights have been created using specialist techniques. Opal glass has been hand blown to create a classic light, whilst the addition of ceramic and weathered brass fittings, provide an individual touch.
