Description

The name chosen for this BOMMA collection, inspired by basic geometric shapes, comes from the Greek word for ‘appearances.’ According to Plato’s teachings, phenomena are mere transient images of eternal and perfect forms and thus inherently unreal. A fitting name for objects made of glass – a material that is both rigid and flexible, as well as strong, yet fragile. These lighting fixtures, in an array of fascinating sizes, are hand-blown into custom-made forms that combine both clear and coloured glass. The colour gradient is created by being gradually blown into the molten mass, as if breathing life into this collection. The flawlessly smooth shape of the crystal light is accented by a sophisticated polished mounting, highlighting a perfect blend of materials and aesthetics.

Bomma suspensions can be customized into unique cluster shapes using a variety of canopy and mounting options. They’re also compatible with sloped ceilings up to a 25-degree pitch. The Planets collection of suspension lights from Brokis features an engaging series of forms that allows for effortless adjustment to suit a range of residential, hospitality, or commercial spaces. Design studio Vrtiška&Žák was inspired by the counterbalanced oil lanterns that illuminated homes before the advent of electric, or even gas, lighting. Planets combines this classic concept with minimalist essentialism through the use of simple geometric shapes to create a wonderful contemporary suspension light. Line, sphere, cone, and capsule work--individually, in unison, and in counterpoint--to present a multitude of potential forms in the Planets collection. With one to twelve available counterbalanced heads, you can choose your own constellation of Planets suspension light, which then allows and encourages you to adjust the individual heads' place in their orbit around the central ceiling rose. With a feather's touch, you can raise and lower each individual head thanks to the precisely-weighted counterbalance attached to each individual cable.
