Based in London, designer Winnie Lui graduated from Central Saint Martins in Fashion Communication and Promotion. In addition to her work as a product designer, she is also fashion stylist, a photographer, and custom jewellery maker.
She has a performed as a stylist for Cantonese singer and actress Gigi Leung, worked for photographer Wing Shya in Hong Kong, and apprenticed as a silversmith for the London-based jewellery designer Lara Bohinc.
Inspired by her surroundings, obsessed with both new and vintage toys, she is attracted to small details that people overlook and everyday objects that are beautiful but seem unimportant.
Winnie’s exclusive collaboration with Innermost produced creations where fashion meets product design. This includes the Beads collection — striking lamps that blend the craft of jewelry with the engineering and technology of modern lighting, the result a striking form that produces an array of infinite reflections, as if the interior was inlaid with jewels.
“Winnie’s concept pushed every boundary and nearly beat us, ” explains Innermost co-founder Steve Jones, when asked which project has brought him the most satisfaction. “. . . complex mathematical forms that demanded high quality traditional metalworking married with ultra-high tech engineering polymers to construct something that in the end looks effortlessly simple. ”
