Urbinati Ricci & Vecchiato are the founders of Foscarini — one of Italy’s top lighting and design brands.
They both began their relationship with Foscarini as designers, creating the foundation of the company's present lamp collection. After some time, they took up Foscarini’s management, becoming the authors of it's history. Moreover, they are the promoters of the company's new and ever-evolving brand image.
“Light is a direct many-layered language. Foscarini interprets the forms and functions of light in various ways, without ever losing sight of its most important purpose - lighting up the rooms of your life, ” describes The Modern Shop. “The Foscarini lighting collection brings together objects that express strong ideas with a special character of their own. Ideas are transformed into a tangible reality thanks to the contribution of leading personalities from the world of design. Foscarini lights up their creativity and guides their proposals”
In 1990, Urbinati Ricci & Vecchiato designed the well-known lamp fixture, Folio.
Folio pays homage to the simplicity of small gestures. This lamp creates the illusion of a sheet of paper being stretched — two corners bend slightly towards the wall or the ceiling, but enough to give volume to the two-dimensional shape of paper. Folio's light source is housed inside the metal support, and diffuses a warm light through its satin-finished screen.
