Born in 1971, Tommaso Ragnisco is an Italian sculptor, painter, designer, makeup artist, special- effects engineer, and production designer. He studied Industrial Design in Rome, where he lives and works today.
Since the mid-90s, Tommasco has founded a series of design studios in Rome, including 21st Century Design and 21Lab, the latter of which operated until 2008. In 2012, together with Mark and Massimiliano Forcella Trotters, he founded the LABNORMAL multimedia design studio, which develops industrial products, museum exhibitions, and educational television shows.
As an industrial designer, he collaborated with Cristina Croce, Alessandro Spalletta, and Manuel Wijffels to create the eye-catching Gemmy collection for the Italian lighting company Slamp. “The Gemmy is a versatile and dynamic collection inspired by the polyhedric facets of desert gems, ” states the Slamp website. “The lamp’s geometries create an intriguing contemporary and refined kaleidoscope effect that enriches any interior. ”
Tommasco is also involved in the film and television industry. He has produced a number of short films and television shows in Italy, and teaches cinematography at the European Institute of Design in Rome.
