Tim Derhaag was born in 1974 in the Netherlands. He graduated with Bachelor of Arts at Art EZ in Arnhem, and with a Master of Arts at the Royal College of Art London.
Tim was assigned his first major project — to design a modern to design a cocktail bar in London — by the renowned designer Jasper Morrison.
In 2001, Tim moved to Amsterdam to open Tim Derhaag Design Studio, where he works on concepts, interior designs, and products for a variety of clients.
Tim first began working with Flos in the summer of 2002. His remarkable 45 outdoor lighting collection was presented in Milan in 2004. He also designed the award-winning Townhouse Hotel Maastricht in 2009. That same year, Tim presented the beautiful Fool Moon lamp during Euroluce in Milan. His other notable products include the origami-inspired Folding Table, and the modular office storage unit Office Wall.
Tim has also made waves for his redesign of the Blue Fashion Showroom in the Old Harbour District of Antwerp — a beautiful and historical warehouse that is home to the Blue Fashion agency and trading labels like Iceberg, Strenesse, and Krizia.
Tim has received many awards and honors, including a Dutch Hotel Award, a Venuez Hospitality and Style Award, a Deutsche Bank Award, a Clerkenwell Green Award, and nominations for the Compasso d’Oro and the Oxo Peugeot Design Award.
