Stefano Papi graduated in Industrial Design from the “La Sapienza” University of Rome. In 2002, for his thesis, he collaborated with Paretti Studio to create Aura, “the scooter of the future, ” which won the Aprilia Design Award.
Since then, Stefano has worked as a freelancer with various design studios, developing products, and creating films and audiovisual presentations. He also works as a communications consultant for various companies and websites.
In 2005, he began working with the Italian lighting company Slamp, with which he focused on the company’s industrial processes. Today, he deals with the optimization and innovation of these processes, in addition to designing products and exhibition display materials. He also led the production processes for a series of lamps designed by Nigel Coates, which were displayed at the 11th Biennale of Architecture in Venice.
In 2008, Stefano designed the suspension lamp “Goccia di Luce” (Drop of Light). In 2011, he designed “Morgana”. According to the Slamp website: “Splendid and legendary, Morgana’s enchanting forms remind you of phials and crucibles. Everything about it is magical, even the ability to be suspended by an almost invisible thread. Seen from below, another spell is revealed: a pattern like the paved surface of the Piazza del Campidoglio in Rome. ”
