"We are aiming to democratize design and to produce items at a great price point. It can be argued that design is moving into a black hole, as it becomes even higher and higher in price. I mean how many people can realistically afford a £15,000 sofa? We don’t want to be like that, we want our designs to be accessible to all."
Sebastian Wrong is a designer, creative director, and specialist in modern manufacturing. His fifteen year career has seen him work with some of the most preeminent designers and companies of the era. His portfolio of work spans furniture, lighting, accessories and gallery projects.
Hailing from London, Sebastian studied sculpture at the Norwich School of Art before forming his own manufacturing company in 1996. He received considerable critical acclaim for the Spun lamp, which he designed for Flos in 2003. The lamp was awarded the prestigious Red Dot Design Award. In 2005, he was a founding member of the British manufacturer Established & Sons, and remained the design director of the company until 2012.
Currently, Sebastian is the creative director of the London based lighting manufacturer wrong. london — a lighting company with an exclusive focus on creating progressive and accessible lighting designs.
“Our ethos is centred around ideas of the future, technological advancement and idiosyncratic design. We have a focus on delivering products of quality, refinement, and a little eccentricity, ” states the manufacturer’s website. “Wrong works closely with a talented roster of international designers who like to play with the possibilities of product. Together, they celebrate diversity, eclecticism, and good ideas. ”
Sebastian is also the founder of The Wrong Shop, an innovative new platform that allows the world’s leading designers to explore their creativity with experimental pieces that require unorthodox methods of production.
