Founded by Palle Leif Hansen in 1977, PLH Design is a multidisciplinary architecture and design firm based in Copenhagen. With nearly four decades of experience, PLH is known for combining its vast industry knowledge with a broad spectrum of competencies and know-how. “PLH’s multi-disciplinary approach is a part of stimulating an interactive and productive working environment for our talented and creative people, partly architects, but also interior designers and industrial designers, together with specialists within construction, process planning, and communication, ” states the PLH website.
Some of the notable projects designed by PLH include the Danish National Archives and the East Asiatic Company Headquarters in Copenhagen, and K 29 in Vilnius, Lithuania.
The industrial design team at PLH is headed by Jørgen Nyboe and Henning Solfeldt, both of whom graduated from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen. The LP Charisma pendant, designed for the Danish lighting firm Louis Poulsen, has received awards in Denmark, the United States, and Australia.
Over the years, PLH has also received numerous awards for their architectural works. In 1991, they received the "Europa Nostra Prize" for their renovation of the Royal Naval Museum in Copenhagen. The firm also received a number of international design prizes for the GeoCenter Møns Klint — a geological museum on the island of Møn in southeastern Denmark.
