Born in 1973, Italian architect and designer Marco Acerbis studied at the Politecnico di Milano until 1998. After graduating, he moved to London, where he worked with Foster+Partners design studio. He set up his own practice back in Italy in 2004.
Marco is interested in creating objects in various scales and sizes, and he rapidly shifts in his use of different technologies, tools, and ideas.
Of his design philosophy, he explains: “You have to try to take the long view, beyond fashions and beyond the world enamoured of novelty for novelty’s sake, and attempt to create products that will last over time because they respond better and better, over the years, to a constantly changing reality. ”
As an architect, his major projects include an 8-storey Medical Research Building at the Imperial College Campus and a 250-meter long high school, home to over 1400 students, both located in London. As a designer, he has created furniture, lighting, and other household items. His clients include prestigious brands such as Vistoso, Fontana Arte, Donati Group, and Giorgio Armani.
Marco has been honored with several major awards, including a Red Dot Design Award and a Good Design Award for the WAVE faucet, and a Red Dot Design Award for the KLOE armchair. He was also named as a finalist for the Renzo Piano Foundation Award for Young Talent of Italian Architecture.
He is also a triathlete, with a passion for exploring the boundaries between the body and mind in extreme conditions.
