Giulio Iacchetti
"I believe that in the core of every person, there is this desire to achieve simplicity."
“For Giulio Iacchetti, it makes much more sense to disobey than to conform, ” explains Sam Cashdam of knstrct. “[T]he Italian industrial designer has consistently gone against the grain and against the norm, redesigning all aspects of life and livability, everything from daily objects like champagne openers to the very words he utters in conversations, turning out new “models” that make much more sense. ”
Giulio began his career as an industrial designer in 1992, and has since designed a diverse range of products for brands such as Abet Laminati, Alessi, Danese, Elica, Foscarini, Globo Ceramiche, Jannelli & Volpi, Hastens, Magis, Meritalia, Moleskine, and Pandora.
In 2001, he was awarded a Compasso d’Oro Award for a unique product he designed for Moscardino — a small biodegradable disposable cutlery set that captured the imagination of the international design world.
Giulio believes that it is important for designers working in Italy to incorporate Italian craftsmanship into their work. Thus, in November 2012, Giulio launched Internoitaliano in Milan — a production system constituted by a network of workshops and manufacturing companies that embody the excellence in the Italian ability to create top-quality products.
In 2009, Giulio was awarded a prize for innovation – the Premio dei Premi – by the President of the Italian Republic. In 2014, he won his second Compasso d’Oro for the design of the manhole covers Sfera, designed with Matteo Ragni for Montini.
