Studio García Cumini Associati was opened in 2012 in Udine, Italy, by Vicente García Jiménez and his wife Cinzia Cumini, as the consolidation of two unique experiences — one Spanish and the other Italian — in the field of design, products, and communication.
Inspired by the philosophy of ‘Slow Design’, Studio Garcia Cumini “constantly pursues the balance of function and also the balance of [an] object’s soul… blending art with technology to make every project, space, and experience truly unique. ”
Vicente graduated in Technical Engineering, specialising in Industrial Design at the Faculty of Experimental Sciences of Castellon de la Plana. He launched his first lighting and furnishing product development business in Barcelona. Subsequent professional experiences led him to Milan and Udine, where he opened his own studio in 2005.
Cinzia graduated in the Conservation of Cultural Heritage at the University of Udine, where she wrote a dissertation on the importance of industrial design in contemporary society. She then worked on the selection of products and suppliers on the international design scene, with a special focus on emerging companies.
Together, Vicente and Cinzia are known for the use of ceramics in their designs: “What makes ceramics interesting as a material for us is the way in which light reflects on stoneware, ” they explain. “It is therefore important for development work in ceramic coverings to concentrate increasingly on the textures of materials, to accentuate the play of light on the surfaces. ”
Studio Garcia Cumini has collaborated with companies such as Agape, Cesar, Fambuena, Foscarini, Future Concept Lab, Lunardelli, Poltrona Frau, Sofia Doors, and Verzelloni.
