When Gabriel Kakon's older sister Jennifer started dating Scott Richier in highschool, none of the three imagined that one of Canada's most exciting design brands was being born.
Despite the six-year difference in their ages, both Kakon and Richier followed similar paths, earning multiple degrees each in design and architecture before going on to work on large residential projects for prominent Montreal architecture firms. Further, the two had in common the growing desire to control more of the projects they designed, from the overall architecture to the furniture and lighting used within it.
Building on Richier's experience building a fashion brand called Jennifer Scott with his wife, Richier and his now brother-in-law began working on bespoke trade furniture designs for an offshoot brand they called Jennifer Scott Decor. Years of hard work, triumph, and loss followed, until a semi-risky large-scale furniture exhibition at the International Contemporary Furniture Fair in New York led to enough positive feedback that they felt confident founding their own studio in 2012: Gabriel Scott.
In the years since, Gabriel Scott has grown from its workshop and production studio in the heart of Montreal's fashion district to include a fashionable showroom in downtown Manhattan. They specialize in rich, luxurious designs that combine their shared experiences in architecture, industrial design, and fashion into expressions of glorious art and style.
