Vincent Van Duysen
“It's all the art of living. Academically, I was trained as an architect. But I am not a mathematical architect, I am an intuitive architect.”
Vincent Van Duysen, born in Lokeren, Belgium, in 1962, is a renowned architect and designer whose work seamlessly blends architecture, interior design, and product design. After earning his degree from the Sint-Lucas School of Architecture in Ghent, Van Duysen honed his skills through collaborations with prominent figures such as Aldo Cibic in Milan and Jean De Meulder in Antwerp. In 1989, he founded Vincent Van Duysen Architects, which has since evolved into a globally recognized firm with a diverse portfolio ranging from high-end residential projects to large-scale commercial and architectural ventures across Europe, the Middle East, Asia, and the USA. His designs are known for their timeless, minimalist aesthetic, where the use of pure, tactile materials and a focus on spatial experience elevate both functionality and comfort. Throughout his distinguished career, Van Duysen has garnered numerous prestigious accolades, including the Flemish Culture Prize for Design, Belgian Designer of the Year, and the Henry van de Velde Lifetime Achievement Award. He has also been featured on the AD100 and Elle Decor A-List multiple times. As the creative director for Italian brands Molteni&C and Dada, he reshaped their global image, creating iconic flagship stores and innovative product collections. Van Duysen has also held significant roles as art director for Kvadrat’s Sahco division and has been a senior designer for Zara Home since 2022. His work continues to appear in leading design publications, and a forthcoming monograph, set to be released in Spring 2024 by Rizzoli, will offer an intimate look at his personal residences, captured by renowned photographer François Halard.
