Danish design firm KiBiSi is an ad hoc design collaboration comprised of Jens Martin Skibsted, Lars Larsen, and Bjarke Ingels — a three-headed, creative hydra that makes it rain with idea-driven product design and awe-inspiring innovation. KiBiSi’s diverse design portfolio includes architecture, furniture, lighting, electronics, and transportation. Founded in Copenhagen in 2009, the group has quickly become one of Scandinavia's most influential design groups. “Ideas and products are intrinsically tied, ” states the group’s website. “We believe the product should be the carrier of its brand idea rather than some designer's form and formula. ”
Each of the three founders of KiBiSi brings something unique to the table.
Lars is an industrial designer with a straightforward approach to design — an approach that merges elements of contemporary culture both high and low; the art scene and the street; the fashion house and the workshop. He’s also the founder of Kilo Design.
Bjarke is the founder of BIG architects, a firm that often attracts public attention and triggers political debate for its thought-provoking designs. He was recently named one of the Top 100 creative people in business today by Fast Company, and was awarded Innovator of the Year by Wall Street Journal for, among other things, his reinvention of the New York Skyscraper.
Jens, who is the founder of Biomega and Skibsted Ideation, is a prolific generator of radically new concepts for green transportation, and is known for merging the approaches of branding, fashion, and cuisine with the world of industrial design.
KiBiSi has won several major design awards, including the Danish Design Prize, a Wallpaper Design Award, and the Venice Biennale Golden Lion.
