Industrial designer Jonas Clementoni was born in Brussels, 1983. He studied motor vehicle design at the Istituto d’Arte di Civita Castellana, and completed a degree in industrial design at the Università La Sapienza di Roma. Today, he lives and works in Italy, Argentina, and Uruguay.
Jonas believes that architecture, art, and design have a growing role in a culture that recognizes the symbiosis between nature and artifacts. As a automobile designer, his designs are driven by the desire to humanize and make vehicles more organic in terms of form, material and energy consumption. He also explores the use of bionic and renewable energy technology, and the aesthetic-economic value of products.
He has participated in laboratory exhibitions and experimental research throughout Italy, including the “13×17” modern art exhibition, an event curated by Philippe Daverio and Jean Blanchaert during the 2007 edition of the Venice Biennale. He is also a regular participant in the European “Artemisia” exhibition, organized each year by the Opera Bosco Museo di Arte nella Natura.
In 2008, Jonas designed Las Palmas for the Italian lighting company Slamp. The fixture is a formal expression of trees bending towards the light.
