For the distinctive Fosbury floor/suspension light, Davide Groppi was inspired by a visit to an exhibition of the works of Alexander Calder. Calder was an American sculptor renowned for his kinetic sculptures, which breathed life and movement into what had previously been a solely static art.
With Fosbury, Davide Groppi finds this movement in a static form through its clean and dynamic lines and the contrast of its low-profile suspension wires with its formidable stabilizing base. These features further allow its integrated LED spot to be precisely directed, despite the support bar's appearance of weightlessness.
