AJ Eklipta indoor/outdoor wall sconce consists of three-layer blown-glass designed to provide a uniformly lit surface, but with a transparent edge that provides a decorative halo of light around the fixture. Originally designed by Arne Jacobsen for Rødovre Town Hall in 350mm and 450mm sizes to provide subtle but present wall sconce illumination for stairways and outdoor installation. He later produced a 220mm version (available with the rest of the AJ family of lights in the "Family & Similar" tab below) for St. Catherine's College at Oxford University. If you'd care for a design suggestion from the master himself, though, Jacobsen always preferred the 450mm size for stairway installations. The precise interplay of soft, fluid contours with clear, defined lines represented in the Flindt wall sconce was achieved through multiple software, 3D printing, and metal casting stages before the final aluminium form was achieved. The Flindt wall sconce distinguishes itself by illuminating from a light ingress within a lithe hooded overhang that blends seamlessly into the sides of the shade as the inner contour flows from concave to convex. The convex lower shade, then, reflects the light from above outwards, illuminating your space. The ovular shade is lifted from the mounting surface, making Flindt wall light almost appear to float in space, an effect further enhanced by the understated spray of upward light created by a small opening in the rear of the hood. Flindt indoor/outdoor wall sconce makes a marvelously sinuous addition to hallways and staircases, or--thanks to its IP65 rating--bathrooms, porches, and walkways.
