Roll & Hill No Excel Table No Diana Table Famous architect duo, Federico Correa and Alfonso Milá, once again enlisted the help of Alfonso’s younger brother-designer Miguel Milá for this project. They were commissioned to design the lighting in the new office of Barcelona Mayor Pasqual Maragall, who oversaw the city’s successful bid for the 1992 Olympics. The administrative office would be visited by a large body of the international political community and was in urgent need of a revamp that would showcase the high standard of Barcelona design on the world stage. Santa & Cole produced the original lamps, and in 1995 the company embarked on limited production of this series of lamps, named after the mayor’s wife. The Diana lamp is slender, sturdy and well-defined. The lamp is balanced by a wide metal base, completed with a slightly conical white linen shade. Two bulbs are arranged such as to provide lighting without creating shadows. The Diana effortlessly combines a classic air with a modern design, both at home and at the office. In keeping with the calling of their designers, all floor and table versions of the Diana series have a timeless quality. Santa & Cole No Diana Table No 1953 Table A tribute to the masters of lighting, names that have contributed to the history of design and of Oluce itself: this year the company presents the reissue of a product from the 50s by Ostuni and Forti. The lamp 1953 designed, by Ostuni e Forti, has two models, floor and table, varying in proportion and size but identical in their design which shifts the whole lampshade section from the centre to the side. A range that elegantly recalls the style of those years, such as the use of a shade in the classic cylindrical shape and the fine contrast of the satin gold – stem and shade’s interior – against the black – the exterior of the shade, the base and the stem grip. Decorative but with a clean, linear design, 1953 is striking in its modernity, attesting to Oluce’s instinct to create objects capable of transcending fashions and eras. Oluce No 1953 Table No Americana Table The Americana series was devised by Miguel Milá in the mid-1960s to pay tribute to George Hansen's epic 1950s lamp collection. The Hansen lamps are based on a rotating arm with a swivel situated in the middle dividing the horizontal axis into two sections: one end is pinned onto the vertical shaft of the lamp holding it aloft and the other end is fastened onto the shade support. As a result, the whole arm can swing around, be folded in or opened out from the middle. Enthralled by the idea of enhancing Hansen's already remarkable geometry, Milá's Americana series is also based on a swing arm, albeit with a single section forming a right angle with the shaft this time round. Accordingly, the swivel allowing the shade to swing around horizontally is affixed at the top of the shaft, reducing the lever effect. Although the arm cannot be opened out or folded in on itself, it can be moved towards you or away from you without shifting the large metal base. The Americana series comprises a table lamp, a floor lamp and a wall lamp, all bearing the same features. Santa & Cole No Americana Table No Owalo 7020 Table Owalo 7020 is a sleek table lamp that works really well by the bed as well as on the window sill thanks to its thin frame. Handmade of PEFC-certified formpressed birch in Finland by highly skilled craftsmen. The wood provides a soft luminosity for atmosphere and appeal. Uses the latest LED-technology. Secto No Owalo 7020 Table No FAD Table Originally designed for the headquarters of Barcelona’s FAD (Fostering Arts and Design Association). The FAD was founded in 1903 by a group of artisans and architects deeply concerned about the consequences of industrialisation. For decades, the association was a pioneer advocate for Spanish architecture and projective arts. A hollowed cylindrical oak structure, creates a vertical symmetry that gracefully supports a white linen shade. The cross-shaped legs that recall other classics by Miguel Milá, share the same dimensions as the shade’s lower circumference. Designed without artifice, FAD lamps spark emotion through their simplicity. The new, petite version is ideal for smaller spaces or a where lower light intensity is required. Both formats allow adjustable light intensity. Santa & Cole No FAD Table No AJ Table The fixture emits downward directed light. The angle of the shade can be adjusted to optimize light distribution. The shade is painted white on the inside to ensure a soft comfortable light. Louis Poulsen Yes AJ Table No Tonda Desk Table Tonda revisits a classic Contardi light. Though the structure is unchanged, the circular base expresses plain but modern forms and lines. The lampshades are offered in white cotton or white Calacatta marble printed fabric, and the product can be customised with coloured trimmings if desired. Contardi No Tonda Desk Table No TMD Table In keeping with the premises of the highly regarded TMM lamp, of which Santa & Cole commissioned a table version from Miguel Milá at the time, Miguel tackled this project with the idea of a shade that rose like a flag up a mast. In order to reduce the number of sections he replaced wood with metal and the cross-shaped base for a circular one, taking up less space on an already crowded desk. However, he did maintain the ingenious system of using a simple rubber ring to affix the shade at the desired height, and the mechanism whereby the lamp is switched on and off by pulling on the electric cord. A metal washer on the shaft is used for wrapping and directing the cable, and forms an inconspicuous part of the design. Santa & Cole No TMD Table No Birdie Table The workhorse of the Birdie family, Birdie table light packs a lot of personality into a small (and slightly smaller) form. Louis Poulsen Yes Yuh Table No Coupé Table The Coupé series, designed by Joe Colombo, was initially conceived as a variation of the Spider family, created by the same designer, of which it has kept its base and stem. The simple, ingenious mechanism that connects the stem to the head makes it possible to direct the beam in several directions, by moving the dome up, down and sideways. In 1968, Coupé won the ”International Design Award” of the American Institute of Interior Designers in Chicago. It is part of the permanent collection at both the MoMA in New York and the ”Neue Sammlung” Museum in Munich. Available in two versions, with either a semi-cylindrical or a semi-spherical dome, over the years, many models of Coupé have been created (ranging between the historic table lamp to the floor and wall lamps), becoming one of the most renowned and appreciated Oluce collections. Oluce No Coupé Table No Tab T Table Part of the Tab family created by the design duo of E. Barber and J. Osgerby in 2011, the Tab T table lamp is a tribute to the spirit of innovation.
