A devilishly clever luminaire, the Diabolo pendant light was one of the last designs created by Achille Castiglioni. It consists of two cones, joined at their points. The longer, narrower cone attaches to the ceiling and contains a spool, around which winds a flex that allows the wider, shorter cone--which contains lamping providing direct light--to rise and fall according to your needs and whimsy.
A titan of lighting design, Castiglioni was inspired by the circus prop with which the suspension light shares its name. Used by highly-skilled clowns to display deftness of hand for centuries, the diabolo prop's dextrous nature is well-represented in Castiglioni's ingenious design. Perfect as a task light or over a dining room table to allow for both boisterous family gatherings and intimate dinners for two, Diabolo pendant is a vibrant and vivacious designer light from one of the industry's great masters.
