Description

The poplar tree, characteristic to river banks and wetlands, produces a white wood that is soft and almost knot-free. The wood needs to be felled before autumn in order to preserve its whiteness and flexibility. Pioneering designer Ferrán Freixa chose to create the Nagoya Lamp from this abundant material. Thin vertical strips are attached to a small, circular metal rod structure to create an oriental-style lamp with a Zen feel. The lamp was the first winner of the Golden Delta ADI-FAD award for the best industrial design produced in Spain back in 1961.

GT6 Suspension

Conceived for average-size settings and areas in the home, GT5 and GT6 are two ribbon pendant shades that are capable of lending character to any venue by dint of merely being there. Ever since the early 1990s, Santa & Cole has championed the use of ribbon shades to embellish all manner of light sources, exploring textiles and experimenting with colours and tones (they even enlisted the help of Raw Color studio). The GT5 was the first in the collection arising as an alternative to the use of continuous textile, methacrylate and cardboard shades. It was followed by the GT6 and, later on, the larger GT7, GT1000 and GT1500, designed for use in public venues owing to their large dimensions. Pilke P60 Pendant Suspension

The inspiration for the Pilke came from traditional Finnish shingle work, but Tuukka Halonen upgraded the design to a modern structure made with today’s state of the art technology. Repetition of plywood parts in right angle creates beautiful subtle friction to light. No glue or screws are used. Pilke is a unique, decorative light fixture, giving natural warm light through its wooden structure. The word Pilke is a Finnish word for Twinkle. GT7 Suspension

The imposing GT7 ribbon shade lamp appears to be similar to the GT5, although it is larger in size, meaning it needed to be strengthened and had to incorporate an upper metal disc (near to the three light sources) as well as the lower light diffusing disc.
