Description

This Chandelier, created by Louise Campbell, is based on a 36-light Zenith in clear crystal with pink, orange, red and yellow crystal elements. It is made up of 36 white, off-white and grey Zenith lampshades including one upside down. One fake candle is provided with the chandelier. A red crystal octagon represents Baccarat's signature and Louise Campbell's signature is on the prism under the red octagon.

Embracing both the past and present, Sultans of Swing combines imperial elegance with the sheer pleasure of blowing new life into long-standing shapes and forms. This collection was originally inspired by the contrast of a Dutch river landscape surrounding a contemporary house. Only water and air were visible; a boat sat anchored by a huge twist of rope. Inside the home, classical elements were in abundance, like heavy velvet curtains with tasselled embellishments. The details and atmosphere of the surroundings were translated into a contemporary lighting sculpture - and thus Sultans of Swing was born. Available as a single element, linear, conical, oval, or round chandelier, and in a variety of sizes, the twists of rope and illuminated tassels on each suspension light are handcrafted from steel in a modern nickel finish. Due to its aesthetic values, Sultans of Swing performs well in both classic and contemporary interiors, especially in grand dining rooms and entryways. The Winter Palace chandelier seems to have been taken directly from the Palace of Versailles or the residences of the Russian tsars. It has a matte and gloss porcelain finish with golden lustre and each golden part is hand painted. Thanks to the kiln, the golden base is transformed into a permanent element of the porcelain. In the design of the collection, synthetic, feminine, lathed, edgeless shapes predominate in porcelain. The hanging accessories make reference to seeds and bulbs; the bases of lights and other parts of the shaft make reference to leaves and flower petals on the point of opening; the lithophanes are inspired by the forms of forest mushrooms.
