TMM Floor

This is perhaps the most highly acclaimed piece from one of Spain’s leading pioneering masters of industrial design. This lamp was part of Miguel Milá’s first collection for TRAMO, the company he founded to produce his own work in post-war Spain. He dabbled in a profession that he would later go on to master, that of a pre-industrial designer, seeking convenient solutions with the technology available. Milá’s words, like his pieces, have an incredible depth that lies beneath their simplicity. TMM is the more laid-back version of the TM family, and features a wooden shaft. In an exquisite demonstration of formal serenity and functional efficiency, Miguel Milá brilliantly separated the three basic components of any lamp: the structure, the electrical components and the shade, that are easily assembled and maintained throughout its very long life. And becomes ever more beautiful with time. A cross-shaped base supports a square shaft that becomes circular in the middle, allowing the shade to be moved up and down. The shade’s height is adjustable via a rubber band stopper. A genuine lesson in intelligence and good taste, making minimal use of components. This was Miguel Milá’s first product that Santa & Cole re-released in 1986, 25 years after its creation. TMC Floor

To mark the iconic design’s 50th anniversary, Santa & Cole released in 2011 “the last and definitive edition” of the TMC lamp, according to its author. The current version revives a number of details of the lamp’s productive life, such as the methacrylate’s thickness and quality used for the shade, and its circular shape. It also incorporates new improvements to the up-down shade system; the upper shaft is a smooth, continuous piece that can be adjusted using a magnet. An unbeatable masterpiece. TMD Floor

Based on his famous TMM lamp, Miguel Milá designed the TMD version replacing wood with metal. The designer came up with the idea of a shade that is raised like a sail up a mast. In order to reduce the number of sections, he replaced wood with metal and the cross-shaped base for a circular one. The inventive engineering remains the same; the shade’s height is adjustable via a rubber band stopper, and the light is switched on/off by pulling lightly on the cable. The elegant lampshade, made of white linen fabric, creates a warm ambient light. This exquisite blend of shapes and materials makes for an inviting, contemplative space, even with the light turned off. A simple yet contemporary wall light, Mitsu is a well-considered design for interior spaces, particularly a hotel guestroom setting. Designed with the hotel guest in mind, key features include a switch for ease of use, a specially designed cotton shade. Premium design features â€“ Tactile silicone coating to the handle, and the brushed metal disc on top of the shade add to the high-end finish of the Mitsu. Durable shade design â€“ To ensure the product is robust enough to be handled in a hospitality environment, the shades are both bonded and stitched. The stitched seam is on the back of the shade to minimize the visual appearance.
