Arik Lévy
"Creation is an uncontrolled muscle."
"Life is a system of signs and symbols, where nothing is quite as it seems, " states Arik Lévy, an eclectic, multi-faceted creator and designer.
Hailing originally from Tel Aviv, Israel, Arik worked for years in Japan before moving to Europe to study industrial design at the Art Center Europe in Switzerland. After graduating, he began to work as a set designer for contemporary dance and opera performances across Europe, before eventually creating an independent design firm in Paris, where he pursues his passion for art and industrial design.
Self-described as an “intuitive designer”, Arik began his career designing lighting fixtures, as well as sculptures for major international museums. He is widely recognized for his acclaimed abstract sculpture series, titled Rock.
Arik has collaborated with prestigious brands across Europe including Ligne Roset, Cinna, Christofle, and Boucheron. In 2007, he began to work with the French crystal company Baccarat, for which he designed the brilliant “Intangible” vase collection and the “Torch” lighting collection.
“After eight years of intense collaboration with Baccarat, which has created passageways between the past and the future, designer Arik Levy continues his quest for perfect light with the Torch Mobile chandelier, ” states the company’s website.
“With its four white lampshades, the Torch Mobile chandelier in shiny chrome stainless steel and clear crystal floats in the air like a feather, creating a smooth balance between the reflections from the crystal, shine and sparkle. ”
In addition to his work as an artist, a photographer, a technician, and a designer, Arik is also an enthusiastic surfer.
