Spot/Directional Lights
Effective for both feature and accent lighting, spot and directional light fixtures are best used to raise light levels in a specific area. This is often most desirable when emphasizing an object or feature, but can also be used simply to create atmosphere through light and shadow.
Davide Groppi is a brand that offers an extensive number of contemporary directional ceiling lights and spot lights, including Mini, Mira, Punto, and Spot and their variants, such as Dot Endless and Spot Endless, which integrate in the Endless Sistemi lighting system. For something more task-focused, look to the adjustable armatures of B.lux's Blux System C or, the original draughting-table designer light, the iconic Lampe Gras No 302 and No 312.
360° from Leucos is an adjustable directional light with a sleek, mid-century profile, while Nemo's Projecteur 165 and Projecteur 365 bring a retro-industrial flavour to contemporary spot lights. If you're looking for a decorative installation that combines linear suspension and directional lighting, Contardi has you covered with Melanocetus Pl and Melanocetus Pl Double.
The general rule of thumb is to keep a clearance minimum of 7 feet below a fixture to ensure functional clearance. For higher ceiling clearances like vaulted or cathedral ceilings, recessed lighting and suspension lights are the best options.
