John Beck Steel was born when John Beck, tired of his job selling welding supplies, found that his hobby experimenting with finished steel furniture interested him more than his education in graphic design. Joining with his designer-furniture-enthusiast sister-in-law, Beck opened Blend, a shared furniture store and workshop where she could sell the furniture she loved and Beck could design and create the furniture he desired.
Appearances at the International Contemporary Furniture Fair in New York had earned both brand and designer attention and orders, which John Beck continued to fill by individually hand-crafting every single designer light and furniture piece himself.
Still operating out of the workshop near its founder's home in Edwardsville, IL, John Beck Steel continues to produce unique refined industrial furniture and lighting designs that are fresh, earnest, and straightforward in their beauty and strength.
