A lamp found by chance: The story of the Cesta lamp by Miguel Milá

FOUND BY CHANCE
In 1962, Miguel Milá came across an abandoned opal globe outside a glass factory while walking the streets of Barcelona. He took it home, and from that quiet, serendipitous moment, the Cesta was born.
Named after the Spanish word for “basket,” the lamp’s signature form gently cradles its glowing glass within a hand-shaped wood frame. Crafted using traditional steam-bending techniques, each piece feels both refined and deeply human.
Soft, dimmable light. Warm, natural materials. A presence that’s as comfortable on any surface.
Today, the Cesta is an icon of Spanish design expanded into a comprehensive family of lights by Santa & Cole.
More than just a lamp, the Cesta is a story of magic and creativity that can be sparked by everyday discoveries.
