The Designers Behind the Glow
Kushi was conceived by Alberto Saggia and Valerio Sommella, two Milan-based designers whose creative partnership has been defined by a shared pursuit of balance between technical precision and poetic expression. Both graduated from the Politecnico di Milano in 2004: Alberto with a specialization in lighting design, honed through over a decade of collaboration with Metis Lighting Studio, and Valerio with a background in product design. Together, their refined experiences, garnered from leading studios in Milan and Amsterdam, made them the right designer pairing for KDLN.

Since joining forces in 2009, both Alberto and Valerio have continued to explore the relationship between form, material, and technology, crafting pieces that bridge innovation and emotion. Ten years ago, they unveiled the Kushi, the duo’s emblematic piece that has grown to be an icon in the world of design.
Kushi: A Symbol of Pure Design
At its heart, Kushi embodies harmony. Its design, a delicate meeting of a slender stem and a soft, opaline sphere, is both sculptural and approachable. The light it emits is gentle yet purposeful, illuminating spaces with a quiet presence that feels almost alive.

Kushi’s appeal lies in this duality: technical yet warm, minimal yet expressive. It’s a light that transcends trends, maintaining its relevance and resonance a decade after its debut. It’s the kind of design and mindset that we at LightForm are drawn to. Needless to say, the Kushi is an easy favourite among staff.
The New Chapter: Kushi Table Lamp
To mark its 10th anniversary, KDLN introduces a new iteration of the Kushi Table Lamp, a rendition that remains faithful to the design’s original spirit. This new table version continues the dialogue between matter and light, inviting new possibilities for personal and intimate illumination, whether on a desk, bedside table, or in a cozy reading nook.

Like the rest of the collection, the Kushi Table Lamp is an object of balance and emotion, designed to fit seamlessly into both contemporary and timeless interiors.
LightForm proudly offers the entire Kushi family. We believe it is a testament to KDLN’s thoughtful craftsmanship and the creative synergy of Alberto Saggia and Valerio Sommella. As Kushi enters its next decade, it continues to inspire with its quiet sophistication and luminous harmony.
