Meet the future of lighting. Introducing Rakumba.
SPOTLIGHT
Australia’s Luxury Lighting Brand Arrives in Canada
LightForm is proud to exclusively introduce Rakumba to Canada. Established in 1968, Rakumba (pronounced rah-come-buh) has been forging a design legacy of iconic lighting pieces.
The name “Rakumba” means “sunshine” in Aboriginal language, honouring the Eastern Kulin Nation, who have lived in South-Central Victoria for over 40,000 years.

“Our pursuit of perfection pushes us beyond the boundaries of possibility, to explore the creative unknown.”
They create sophisticated lighting that draws inspiration from their passion for technical excellence and the personal stories of their collaborators.
Reflecting their multicultural Australian perspective with global influences and sensibilities, Rakumba invites leading international designers to create lighting that is contemporary, thoughtful, and comes from the heart.
After seeing their collections at Euroluce in Milan last year, our VP of Sales, Jaime Bishop, was enamoured and immediately on board:
“I was drawn to their booth’s moody warmth, with its suspended, soft glowing orbs, I needed to know more… And I was not disappointed.” - Jaime Bishop, LightForm VP of Sales
It’s clear that Rakumba’s work speaks the same language we do. Lighting is more than just illumination. It’s a mood-setter and enhancer. It’s a spatial anchor, and a medium for storytelling. We know from firsthand experience that Canada’s design community is increasingly drawn to lighting that feels human and soulful, without sacrificing style or performance. Rakumba’s sculptural warmth, technical excellence, commitment to sustainability, and globally informed yet deeply local perspective felt like a natural next chapter in LightForm’s ongoing mission: to bring meaningful, design-driven lighting to Canadian interiors.

The Collections
Big Glow
Responsible Luxury
The Big Glow
Designed by Studio Truly Truly, the Big Glow Collection reimagines the classic glowing sphere using luxurious Australian wool and plant-based, compostable fibre.
Studio Truly Truly
Developed in close collaboration with Woolmark, an established global authority on wool, the Big Glow puts a spotlight on the natural material’s versatility and durability beyond its traditional textile use.
“Big Glow isn’t just a beautiful light; it’s a bridge spanning heritage and innovation, nature and design, Australia and the world. It whispers of sun-drenched memories and the embrace of home, no matter where life takes us.” - Kate Booy, Studio Truly Truly
Entirely produced in Victoria, Australia, the Big Glow is a celebration of local craftsmanship, material innovation, and what responsible luxury truly means.
With an independently controlled interior glow and directional downlight, Big Glow offers both ambient warmth and functional light, alongside the wool’s natural acoustic benefits.
Equally at home in intimate residences or expansive commercial spaces, it captures the essence of the Australian sun: comforting and quietly transformative. The collection is the perfect embodiment of Rakumba’s ingenuity, commitment to sustainability, and a glowing example of what this Australian brand is offering the design world on a global scale.
You can experience the Big Glow by Rakumba at LightForm Vancouver.

Typography
Lighting as language
Rakumba’s Typography Collection introduces a new decorative lighting vocabulary, quite literally and figuratively.
“The system is inspired by the way letters form words, and how these can be arranged in relationships to form a language of expression.” - Studio Truly Truly
Inspired by typographic characters, CILON features cylindrical forms that can be arranged along Rakumba’s modular Typography rail system to create sculptural, highly customized compositions.
An advanced rail, almost impossibly thin, allows for the complete mobility of any light along the line. Each light can be positioned on four sides of the central axis and can be controlled independently of any other. Combining multiple rails in vertical or horizontal orientations enables TYPOGRAPHY to be formed into endless expressions; from simple pendants or wall arrangements to dramatic chandeliers - almost limitless design solutions.
Each light can be positioned and controlled independently, allowing designers to curate light like language, expressive, precise, and entirely personal.

Petal
Beauty of a single petal
Sebastian Herkner
Sebastian Herkner is no stranger to us at LightForm. He has designed lighting for many of the brands we offer, namely KDLN, AGO Lighting, Parachilna, and Fontana Arte, to name a few.
In 2024, the famed German product designer joined forces with Rakumba for a third time to work on the exquisitely-designed Petal collection. This botanically-inspired luminaire continues the creative dialogue that flourishes between the Australian brand and the German-based designer.
Petal’s luscious textural form is inspired by the rich waxy curves in each petal of a tulip bloom. Further expressing the streaks and ruffles of natural tulips, the surface of Petal’s glass form reveals a delicate organic texture splaying outwards from the gently curved, glowing light.
While one might expect the luminaire to feel light and delicate, its pressed-glass construction lends its presence as a precious object of beauty. The use of generously thick glass, combined with a hand-illustrated natural texture, adds intrigue to the way the glowing light source refracts.
“I want to design companions for life, so it’s not just about the shape, the colour, the surface. I want to tell stories, and I want people to create a new story with the product as part of their time together with it, the way they interact with it.”
For the Petal Table Lamp, Sebastian has artfully tilted Petal on its side, as if laying a flower upon a table. The effect is a whimsical ode to artist Constantin Brâncusi’s famous Sleeping Muse.

Like the versatility of nature itself, Petal’s beauty takes other guises as a pendant and wall lamp in two sizes.
