UNBORING PROJECTS: Breadsource Bakery & Café by Sansa Interiors

Sculptural warmth from a-emotional light

In Toronto’s east end, Sansa Interiors has brought a refined warmth to Breadsource Bakery & Café. They’ve designed a space that feels elevated and deeply welcoming. As described by Sansa Interiors, the project was envisioned as “a warm and inviting bakery café where customers can gather, connect, and enjoy artisanal baked goods in a thoughtfully designed environment.”

At the heart of the space are the Onn XL Suspension luminaires from Spanish lighting brand a-emotional light. Suspended above the café seating area, the fixtures immediately draw the eye with their organic, cloud-like forms and airy texture.

Designed by Arturo Álvarez, the Onn collection is handcrafted from painted stainless steel mesh, with forms inspired by the marine world: shells, seaweed, and coral translated into sculptural light. In Breadsource, the pendants soften the architecture of the interior while casting a warm, diffused glow across the space. Their presence feels expressive without overpowering the bakery’s restrained material palette of natural wood, soft neutrals, and tactile finishes.

The scale of the Onn XL was particularly important to the project. Rather than disappearing into the background, the fixtures act as focal points that anchor the café visually and emotionally. Against the clean lines and layered textures of the interior, the pendants introduce movement and softness, helping shape the relaxed atmosphere that defines the bakery experience.
