BOMMA continues to push the boundaries of contemporary glass design with its latest innovation — the Fragments Lighting Collection — introducing Fragmentglass, an upcycled material that transforms discarded glass shards into luminous works of art.

Upcycled Glass Fragments

BOMMA has long been known for its precision in glassmaking, producing some of the highest-quality glass both for its own collections and for studios worldwide. In the pursuit of perfection, glass that doesn’t meet their exacting standards often becomes waste. However, glass is infinitely recyclable, and BOMMA saw an opportunity to reimagine these remnants through an innovative upcycling process.

Inspired by this vision, DECHEM Studio — renowned for its expertise in working with glass fragments — collaborated with BOMMA to develop Fragmentglass. This unique material retains elements of its original form, offering a dynamic aesthetic that blends structured design with organic unpredictability.

A New Dimension in Glass Artistry

Each Fragmentglass panel is crafted by layering glass shards into a mold, allowing the heat of the furnace to fuse them into a one-of-a-kind composition. Unlike conventional glass production, this process embraces uncontrollable artistic randomness, resulting in variations in texture, tone, and embedded details such as tiny bubbles or mineral inclusions — elements that would typically be considered imperfections but now add to the material’s character.

The resulting glass is beautifully smooth and glossy on the surface, reminiscent of water, while the reverse side reveals a textured finish that speaks to the craftsmanship behind its creation. When light passes through, the layers within the glass come to life, showcasing a dramatic interplay of depth and colour.

Curated Colourways

Through meticulous experimentation, DECHEM Studio curated a harmonized palette of three stunning colours:

• Mysterious Black – Deep, bold, and strikingly modern
• Stormy White – A dynamic blend of white and gray tones
• Flamingo Mint – A delicate fusion of soft green and pink hues

These colors stand beautifully on their own or can be artfully combined to create personalized compositions.

The Fragments Lighting Collection

From Waste to Original Gems

This groundbreaking material takes centrestage in the new BOMMA Fragments Lighting Collection, where sleek, minimalistic forms allow the Fragmentglass panels to shine. Inspired by the natural beauty of gemstones formed under pressure, the lighting pieces are available in two sizes — short and long pendants — and are finished with elegant metal accents in brushed gold or anthracite.
